Letter from Montecito Water District to First District Supervisor Carbajal (Santa Babara County Board of Supervisors) on the need to inspect boats transfering into Lake Cachima to prevent the introduction of Qugga (or Zebra) mussels into the local water supply. These mussels can be very small, multiply quicky, affect the lake's ecosystems, can clog waterways and pipelines, and create costly maintence problems. Once infested there is current no way to eliminate the mussels from a waterbody. (195K)
