"One issue that appears to be current with several of the boards is the issue of Directors being listed as employees for tax purposes. County Counsel (SBCO) has sent the Santa Maria Valley Water Conservation District an opinion that the District Directors should be listed as employees, receive a W-2 at the end of the year and have taxes withheld. Formally the District Directors were recipients of a 1099. This maybe a bridge other special districts have crossed before and some agreement or understanding has previously been reached. Could this be a subject for our group or is there a previous understanding?"
